This past week in ISM, I was fortunate enough to meet with two professionals. I met with Mrs. Cari Hall from Texas Orthopedics and Spine Team and Mrs. Colleen Wooldridge from Baylor Scott and White Frisco. These interviews were extremely helpful as I got to hear from a PA, Mrs. Hall, as well as a CRNA, Mrs. Wooldridge.
During my interview with Mrs. Hall, I asked her all about her schooling, typical week, role in the office, and common sports injuries she encounters in an orthopedic office. Some highlights for me during our time together included her sharing with me that she played sports in college and how her schooling worked with her other responsibilities. As I plan to play sports in college, it was thrilling for me to hear that she encourages it and that because she was driven it was highly achievable. I was also very thankful to hear from a primary source about sports injuries that she treats. Mrs. Hall was full of useful information and I am glad I had the opportunity to meet with her. During my time with Mrs. Wooldridge, I asked her similar questions but more related to a CRNA. Something I highlighted about our time together was the advice she gave me about school and jobs. She told me that it is up to you to find a place where you will succeed and thrive, and she encouraged me to not put any pressure on having my whole life planned now. She informed me of how she deals with the bad days and how important it is to be able to make decisions yourself even under pressure. Mrs. Wooldridge provided me with plenty of information about her professional experience, and I am also grateful for the advice she gave me.
I was very honored to get the chance to meet with these two professionals. I got to hear two very different perspectives, yet they were both useful to my learning. I am planning to ask Mrs. Wooldridge if she is willing to be my mentor, and I plan to continue my original work research going into this week.
