Not Always What It Seems

This past week in ISM, was not as busy compared to last week, but I did get the opportunity to experience something different during my mentor visit. During the week, I went on another mentor visit and got to reflect and research on my final product.

The visit I went on this past week was like no other. Every other time I have gone to the hospital it has been very fast paced and Colleen was doing something just about the whole time. It has always been in surgery, preparing for another surgery, or communicating to patients. This time I went with her during the morning of her labor and delivery day. It turns out that she did not have anything scheduled for her morning so we spent a lot of time just sitting around and waiting for something to happen. Although the whole three hours of being there I did not get to see anything, it was a good opportunity for me to learn more about what a day in her life can look like. It was also nice to learn a lot about her during this time. I got the chance to ask her a lot of questions about her job and any advice she had for me. This time with her allowed me to talk about my final product with her. Reflecting on my product with her gave me a lot of insight and she even provided me some sources to look at that can be useful.

Although it seemed like a slow week, I was definitely grateful for the opportunity to learn from even a slow day. I now feel more confident in regards to my research and the product that I want to create.
