This past week in ISM, I had the amazing opportunity to go to the business symposium with my classmates to meet plenty of professionals. Before the symposium, we did plenty of things to prepare ourselves including creating interview questions, doing mock interviews, more research, and creating our own “elevator pitch.” Doing this process in class was extremely beneficial as I used all of the knowledge I gained during the actual symposium.
During the symposium, I got to network with professionals, other ISM students, and ISM alumni. When I was talking to these professionals, I felt very comfortable and I had genuine conversations. From the professionals I got to learn a lot about why they were interested in their field of work, the schooling that it involved, how AI has influenced their job, better ways to communicate, and plenty more that I am going to take with me going forward. One of my favorite parts of the symposium was getting to hear from the ISM alumni. I got to hear from them how beneficial ISM was to them and how they carried it on with them in the future.
Being a part of the symposium this past week made me feel very successful in the path that I am heading. I was very fortunate to hear from an ISM two student who gave me great advice about the decision I am trying to make between going the physician or physician assistant route. She advised me to meet with both a physician and a PA, and just hear from them first-hand what their experience is like. I loved her advice and I plan to do exactly what she said, and I believe in doing this I can confidently choose my path.
